Happiness is a Project

0211happiness364.jpg

Today in The Globe & Mail, I have a feature about Toronto musician Charles Spearin (Do Make Say Think, Broken Social Scene) and his new album of compositions based on interviews with his neighbours, The Happiness Project, released this week. Bonus material coming on Zoilus later this afternoon, er, Thursday.

Nice piece, and nice to see your byline in Review. It seems so rare nowadays...

I heard a track off Spearin's new album on The Signal, and it was lovely. Reminded me of this, which if you haven't already seen it, is a must-see for anyone interested in harmonizing speech:

I tried to interview Charles a year ago about this project. I think it is amazing and wonderful. I got to see a live performance of one of the tracks in December. Magic!
