Watching the Ripples

Salif Keita, in Toronto as part of the jazz festival on June 29.

Sorry for the spate of radio silence. I've been playing three-dimensional deadline chess all week with various competing assignments. Meanwhile, though, locals might like to know that NXNE and Jazz Festival listings can now be found in the gig guide. If we've missed anything (NXNE's website is a nightmare, and the Jazz Fest's is good but huge) just holler.

All hail the king, Salif Keita...I'm a tad envious...but that's just my show it will be.

NXNE is a great festival. If you have the time, you should definitely check out Dan Mangan, whose playing at the Funhaus on June 12th, as well as the Savannah Room on June 14th. He's a great Vancouver based folk artist. He's a talent on stage and great to watch. You should also check out Nat Jay, who will be playing at Free Times Cafe on June 14th as well. She's another great Vancouver artist that I think will be a delight to watch.
