2007 Eye Poll Ballot

For the record, because my Idolator ballot was hasty and off, my Eye critics' poll ballot. Most immediately regretted: Spoon ("You Got Yr Cherry Bomb"), Joel Plaskett Emergency (either "Fashionable People" or "Nothing More to Say"), Aly & AJ ("Potential Breakup Song"), LCD Soundsystem ("North American Scum"), UGK & Outkast ("international Players' Anthem"), Burial ("Archangel"), The New Pornographers ("Myriad Harbour" but also "Challengers" and "The Spirit of Giving") and The Weakerthans ("Civil Twilight") would ideally all be in the singles list. And maybe Bettye Lavette (Scene of the Crime) in albums. (Not to mention all the albums I didn't get it together to hear in '07, eg Robert Wyatt's Comicopera or Britney's and UGK's full records, etc.)

For TG&Y; is the best. Saw him play it on the Get Lonely Tour last year.

I love Let's Talk About Love, as well. Fantastic stuff, man.

hi Marcus - I like the couple of Yeasayer tracks I have quite a lot (way more convincing integration of rock and 'world' influences than Vampire Weekend, though the choruses are better than the verses) but my copy of the album disappeared before I got a chance to listen to it, so I don't have a full take. MGMT I haven't heard yet.

Britney's is album of year by the twenty-minute mark so don't regret not getting around to hearing it all. I don't even think I've finished listening to the whole thing. Because it's more like a great book than an album of the year in how you will it to never end.

Hey what say you about Yeasayer and MGMT (now touring and coming to Toronto and Montreal)?

V. glad to see YMG namechecked...criminally under-rated, even in their brief Hey! day.

Gawd, I remember when it first came out on vinyl.
Getting old...
